Kia Clavis 2025: An MPV to Challenge Innova with ADAS Level 2 & 7-Seater Space

The new Clavis MPV launched by Kia in 2025 takes its name from the Latin word “Carnis”, which is commonly used to mean “very strong” or “force of nature”. The 7-seater vehicle is a smart luxury space hub designed for Indian families. It has 15% more legroom than Toyota’s Innova Highrider and is designed to transport passengers smoothly and comfortably.

It also comes with a 26.62-inch dual-screen infotainment and driver display. It also has high-end safety technologies like Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). Priced between ₹25 lakh and ₹30 lakh, the vehicle is considered a “class-defining” MPV, setting a new standard in its class.

Expert Review: Class-leading but not perfect?

In the July 2025 review published by Autocar India, the Kia Clavis has been hailed as a class-leading MPV. The roof air vents and ambient lighting available in 64 colours offered in the car’s interior make for a premium experience on the go.

Moreover, the turbo petrol engine is powerful and can reach 0-100 kmph in just 10.2 seconds, which is a big plus for the vehicle’s power and speed.

However, there are some drawbacks. Especially in the diesel model, the NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) level is high while driving on the highway, which can be a problem during the journey. Also, important features like ventilated seats are only available in the top-end HTX+ model, which may disappoint other customers. So, even though the Kia Clavis is a technologically advanced, powerful MPV, it is worth noting that some key features are not offered on all models.

User Reviews & Common Issues

The overall rating of 4.6/5 shows that most users (over 850) have given honest positive feedback about the Clavis.

Pros

• Rajesh, Chennai says that the third row seats are very comfortable, even 6-feet tall people can easily sit in the back.

• Aarti, Hyderabad says that the vehicle’s BOSE audio system and Triple Drive modes provide a unique driving experience.

Cons

• Some users are concerned about the cost-effectiveness as the dealer service cost is 20% higher compared to Hyundai.

• Also, some have complained that the IVT transmission (variable transmission type) is slow or hesitant at times.

Price and Variants (Ex-Showroom)

Variant Petrol Turbo Petrol Diesel
HTE ₹25.99 lakh ₹27.45 lakh
HTK ₹27.75 lakh ₹29.10 lakh ₹29.85 lakh
HTX+ ₹30.50 lakh ₹31.90 lakh ₹32.75 lakh

Conclusion: Is the Innova a Highrider? A Clavis?

Both have their own unique strengths. If you want modern design, tech features and more amenities, with ADAS safety technology and a lower price tag of ₹3-5 lakhs, the Kia Clavis is a smart choice. It is especially suitable for city commuting and young families who want digital amenities.

On the other hand, if diesel engine refinement, long-term resale value and travel on rough rural roads are important to you, the Toyota Innova HighStrider is your reliable choice.

As a better value option, the HTK turbo petrol Clavis variant, available at ₹29.10 lakhs, is a high VFM (Value for Money) solution that adds features and value to the price.
