Laylatul Qadr refers to the night that falls in the month of Ramadan ! This night is a very special night. Quran about Laylatul Qadr

Indeed, We sent it (the Quran) down on the night of honor (Laylatul Qadr). Do you know what the night of honor is? That night of honor is better than a thousand months. The angels and the soul (Jibreel) descend therein by the permission of their Lord, carrying out every command. (It is) peaceful (in that night). It lasts until dawn.

[ Quran 97:1-5 ]

That is, Allah explains the virtue of this night by saying that the night of Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months.

The Night of Laylatul Qadr in Hadiths

In Hadiths, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has mentioned many virtues about the Night of Power. Some of them are given here:

We were talking about the night of “Laylatul Qadr” with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Then he said, “Who among you remembers that it is the night on which the moon appears like half of a plate of food?”

The Last 10 Days of Ramadan

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: I was shown the Night of lailatul qadar (in a dream) while I was sleeping. Then one of my family woke me up and I forgot it.

So the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Search for it in one of the last ten nights.”

This hadith has been narrated on two chains of transmission. It was narrated from Harmala bin Yahya (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Then I forgot it.”

Laylatul Qadr 2025: Celebration, Date and Evidence

Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:

A man saw Laylat al-Qadr in his dream on the twenty-seventh night of Ramadan. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “I see that your dreams are one of the last ten nights of Ramadan. So search for it in one of the odd nights of Ramadan.”

Laylatul Qadr is the 27th night of Ramadan

Ubayy bin Ka’b (may Allah be pleased with him) said about the Night of lailatul qadr: “By Allah! I know it well.”

Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “As far as I know, it is the 27th night on which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded us to stand in prayer.”

Laylatul Qadr 2025: Celebration, Date and Evidence

I asked Ubayy bin Ka’b (may Allah be pleased with him) about a saying that Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) had said. The statement was as follows:

“Whoever stands up for prayer every night of the year will surely reach Laylatul Qadr.”

Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, “May Allah have mercy on him! He (Ibn Mas’ud) said this so that the people would not be satisfied with that one night. But he (Ibn Mas’ud) knew that Laylatul Qadr was among the last ten nights of Ramadan. He also knew that it was the 27th night. Then Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) said with certainty, “It is the 27th night.”

I asked him, “What is your proof of this, Abu’l-Mundhir?” (This was Ubayy’s respectful title).

Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, “I know it because of the sign that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) told us. The sign is that on that day (after Laylat al-Qadr) the sun will rise without much light.”
